Loveland, Colo., May 21, 2026 – Root Shoot Spirits’ newest release is the first of a rotating limited release series of Colorado-crafted, high-proof whiskey! The inaugural 2026 vintage, available across Colorado now in limited quantities, is a high-proof blend of 4 and 5 Year American Single Malt Whiskey, bottled at 120 proof.
Root Shoot Whiskey Homestead Series incorporates 100% Colorado-grown and malted grain, sourced and malted on Root Shoot’s 5th generation family farm in Loveland. From field to bottle, all Root Shoot Spirits whiskey travels only about 30 miles, representing a uniquely hyper-local and sustainable supply chain journey of Colorado agriculture.
The new release hits shelves on the heels of Root Shoot’s flagship Root Shoot Whiskey earning Spirit of the Year U.S.A, Whisky of the Year, and American Single Malt Whiskey of the Year at the international 2026 London Spirits Competition.
“The Homestead Series is our way of celebrating the barrels and malts we love most,” said Root Shoot Farmer and Founder Todd Olander. “Whether mashed together from the beginning or blended after years in barrels, it’s a deeper look into what craft malt can bring to American Single Malt whiskey.”
Homestead is a blend of five American Single Malt barrels – three 5-year and two 4-year – built from three distinct mash bills and incorporating eight Root Shoot malts in total. All barrels were distilled in 2020 and 2021 in a traditional pot still and fermented off grain, then aged in first-use, medium-char American oak barrels.
“The Homestead Series gives us a place to really showcase the depth and individuality of our malts,” said Olander. “By working with multiple mash bills and a higher proof, we’re able to pull more nuance from the whiskey while highlighting the flavor that comes from growing and malting our own grain here on the farm.”
The 2026 Vintage of Root Shoot’s Homestead High Proof Series opens with orchard fruit that mingles with cocoa and herbal notes of camphor and eucalyptus. The oak structure offers notes of vanilla paired with fire-roasted marshmallows and warming baking spice.
Root Shoot Whiskey is distilled just a few miles from where the raw materials were sown, grown and malted on Root Shoot Malting’s 5th generation family farm. The result is a true celebration of the craft, workmanship and spirit of Colorado agriculture in every sip.
