Journeys Employees Partner with Can’d Aid to Build Skateboards for Underserved Youth in Nashville

WHAT: On Oct. 14, Journeys employees from Nashville will partner with nationally recognized nonprofit Can’d Aid to build skateboards to be gifted to underserved youth during a donation event with Youth Villages following the build.

Through October, Journey’s employees nationwide will partner with Can’d Aid in their own events to benefit healthy habits of youth in their communities. More than 70 Journeys regional teams will build and donate more than 2,000 skateboards this month.

The Nashville event will benefit local youth via nonprofit Youth Villages, which provides help for tens of thousands of children and young people who face a wide range of emotional, mental and behavioral problems.

WHEN: Thursday Oct. 14: Skateboard Build at 2 p.m. and Donation Event at 4 p.m.

WHERE: Rocketown (601 4th Ave S., Nashville, TN 37210)

MEDIA OPP: Media are invited to attend skateboard build and donation event. A representative from Journeys will be available for interviews.

WHY: Children average 7 hours of screen time per day and only 1 in 5 gets the daily recommended 30 minutes of active play a day. Through its Treads + Trails program, Can’d Aid helps combat these troubling statistics. Can’d Aid has donated more than 2,000 bikes and skateboards nationally to students in the past year. At a time when our nation’s youth are experiencing extreme levels of anxiety, depression and mental health issues, Can’d Aid’s programs provide healthy and active outlets for underserved and at-risk children across the country.
